The Carpet and Claws

In season two, episode one (2.001,  May the Giant Be With You ), Maddy Ferguson has a vision in the Palmer living room. The carpet near her chair rapidly becomes darkened by a stain or an effect called pooling, or sometimes watermarking, which happens when fibers are moved in an opposing direction. The reason I question if it is a stain is that claw marks seem to appear after the darkness has spread.  Notice the marks intentionally raked across the carpet (Below).

A Twin Peaks Sound Effect in Child's Play 3

In the film Child's Play 3, two characters enter a carnival tent in pursuit of a little boy whose life is in danger. Inside, they come upon a corpse of a security guard, a victim of the possessed doll. This is disturbing for both and gives them greater cause to worry about the missing child. The sound effect played at this moment is instantly recognizable as one associated with supernatural or dark events in the original Twin Peaks series. It can be heard at the 1:16:49 mark in the 2003 US DVD release for Child's Play 3.

Child's Play 3 was released in the US on August 30th, 1991, almost two months after the Twin Peaks season two finale.

Another connection between the Twin Peaks and Child's Play universes is that Grace Zabriskie, the actress who portrays Sarah Palmer, had a role in Child's Play 2.

Brad Dourif, the actor who provides Chucky's voice, portrayed Charles Lee Ray in human form in the first film in the Child's Play franchise. The actor also appeared in David Lynch's Dune (Piter De Vries) and Blue Velvet (Raymond), along with the David Lynch produced Werner Herzog film, My Son, My Son, What Have Ye Done. The latter also features Grace Zabriskie and Wild at Heart's Willem Dafoe.

The recent USA/SyFy Chucky TV series is produced by Twin Peaks writer and producer Harley Peyton. Peyton also co-wrote a handful of episodes. Child's Play/Chucky writer producer Don Mancini stated on Twitter that the wallpaper in a character's room was an homage to Twin Peaks.
