A Twin Peaks Sound Effect in The January Man (1989)

Twitter user @Igorinoleoni informed me that the same ominous sound effect heard in Twin Peaks - which by I by chance heard in Child's Play 3 and Spontaneous Combustion - also appears in the 1989 film The January Man. The sound occurs one hour and two minutes into the feature. It again accompanies a sense of dread and twice now death.

In the January Man, a man takes his life by jumping from a window of an apartment building after committing murder. It is as we see the body, a sight meant to shock or impact us, that we hear the sound. You can hear it in the video below.

The January Man also features Kenneth Welsh (Windom Earle) in a small role. (Below)

In the film, Alan Rickman portrays an eccentric artist who wears an ensemble that faintly calls to mind a similar look worn by Dr. Jacoby.

The January Man was released in the US on January 13th, 1989. The Twin Peaks pilot first aired on April 8th, 1989.

Thanks to @Igorinoleoni.
